What is a Statement of Abandonment?

The purpose of registering a Statement of Abandonment is to make available to the public a statement by persons or business entities no longer doing business under a previously filed Fictitious Business Name.

The Statement of Abandonment shall contain the business name(s) being abandoned, street address, ownership information, and nature in which the business is conducted as it appeared on the previously filed Fictitious Business Name.

To Abandon, please follow these steps:

First, look up your previous filing information. Although we do offer a search service (with fees), it is much more economical and convenient to perform the search yourself at no cost. You can do this by using our Self-Service search system

  1. Applications can be obtained as follows:

  • Online: Our online services are currently unavailable until further notice.

  • In-person:  You can visit us in person but may experience wait times. For the most efficient and least amount of wait time, we suggest the convenience of booking an appointment to have a set time for your service.

  • By-Mail:  Send a request and a self-addressed stamped envelope to our office.
